Game: Tom Clancy's the Division (2016)

Platforms: PC, Playstation 4,Xbox One

Become the hero in a world crippled by a pandemic, by helping what remains of the virtual society in New York, and in real life, by sitting on your couch and playing this video game. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, when it comes to video games, there are few titles which have been at the centre of attention than the Division. Well, that is not surprising, for what is happening outside resembles the world of Division, a world engulfed in chaos with governments trying their best to handle the situation. The story of this game is about an anarchist virologist who develops a cocktail of all deadliest diseases in our history. After his magnum opus is created, he applies the virus on cash during the Black Friday in New York City, in order for the virus to spread as quickly as possible. A few months later, the city is under lockdown from the outside world, and anarchy reigns everywhere.

What the title stands for, the Division, is a covert battalion of sleeping government agents only to be activated when everything else fails. On surface, they are just regular citizens, policemen, firefighters, teachers, it doesn’t matter. Even your annoying neighbour Fred could be in “the Division”. What matters is that you play as one of them. Your agent will encounter many types of enemies which belong to a faction of escaped prisoners, mad firefighters or private military for hire ,that decided to turn their backs on the government and basic human decency. By far however, the most interesting enemies you will inevitably come across are the former Division agents which have gone rogue and now are on the hunt for the rest of the Division, that includes you.

The graphics, even though they are not what we were promised during the E3 presentation, are quite stunning and the level of details and interactions is very authentic. The player can joyfully stroll around the open-world, walking the same streets as he would in real-life snowy New York. When its comes to weaponry and equipment, there are endless options of combinations and it entirely depends on how the player wants to play, all you have to do is pick your poison. Do you want to be a sniper ? A tank build with a riot shield ? A healer ? A tech-fanatic will all the smart military-grade electronics you are able to find it your backpack ? The answer is yes and there is so much more. If you ever get bored endlessly shooting NPCs enter the Dark Zone, where other real players are fighting for the best loot. Since the game can be played both alone or with up to 4 friends it is a great catch for a quarantine, since basically everyone should stay indoors as much as possible.

So give this game a try, I know that the game received a lot of hate since it came out, especially after the release, but if you are looking for a game where you can spend hours during the quarantine it is one of the best titles there is. Create a character however you prefer, try to convince some friends to do the same and make the best out of the quarantine.
